Description:
Yoga is a mixture of physical, mental and spiritual activities or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Yoga means unity, and especially of body and mind. Its main goal is to find the balance between physical activity and spiritual consciousness. The European Week of Sport 2015 gave a valuable opportunity to raise the awareness of Italian citizens about that kind of life philosophy and practice. The participants had been instructed how to reach the harmony of body and spirit and with a goal to help them relieve themselves of tiredness and negativity which are accumulating in our everyday lives. It turned out that this activity had been particularly effective for a group of participants who joined the exercises full of enthusiasm. The goal of this event was also to educate a bigger number of people by the word of mouth to improve the situation in society, improve well-being and make it a more peaceful and better place to live.
Highlighted as good practice:
Combination of a body and mind approach is excellent to improve the well-being and acquisition of an active lifestyle and to promote innovative sports activities at the same time. It can be organized by an individual, sports club or association.
